Relief Without THC
You might have seen balms, salves, or oils with a CBD label on them in many of your local stores over the past few years, but what is CBD?
CBD is a chemical found in cannabis plants, and scientific research has shown that it likely treats a lot of different chronic pains or other ailments. Some people claim that it helps soothe them and treats anxiety and other mental problems.
Some of the claims have been backed up by scientists, and some of them haven’t. However, there’s no debating that it has become extremely popular as a safe alternative to certain medicines.
CBD has been made legal in the majority of states because it doesn’t contain THC. It’s made from hemp plants instead of marijuana. So, there’s so little THC in it that it doesn’t make you high, and it doesn’t show up on drug tests, either.
However, there are still some states that don’t allow its use, and even the ones that do have some confusing laws. Today, we’ll talk about the laws that affect Texans, and we’ll go over some of the benefits Texans can receive from using the newly legalized substance.
It took quite a while for Texas to hop on the CBD train, but they finally legalized it as of June, 2019. It’s now legal for retail stores to sell CBD products the same way that they sell a pack of gum or anything else.
Regulations Are Still Being Made
However, a lot of CBD advocates are warning potential buyers to wait a while. The government in Texas is still coming up with regulations for the products being sold, and there’s no guarantee that the source you buy from will meet those requirements once their finished deciding how to regulate the product.
Since there are no detailed regulations right now, store owners can sell you just about anything. A lot of stores were caught selling CBD products with far less CBD in them than what the package advertised. That can result in you buying inferior products.
You also have to worry about the THC levels in your CBD products. The THC limit imposed by Texas officials is 0.3 percent. To achieve that, hemp must be used to create the CBD oil. Anything over that limit is most likely derived from marijuana, and it’s still illegal in Texas. Once the products are fully regulated, you won’t have to worry about that as much because stores will be held to higher standards.
Waiting for regulations to be decided on will make it a lot safer for you to try CBD products, and you’ll receive a higher quality product regardless of where you buy it from.
There are no age limits set for store-bought CBD products in Texas. A teenager looking to soothe their anxiety can buy it just as easily as an elderly woman trying to soothe her arthritis.
However, getting it from a medical marijuana program still requires users to be over the age of 18. Only the stuff found on store counters is legal for everyone.
Before June 10th, 2019, possessing CBD oil could land you in jail unless you had epilepsy. Stores were still selling it to anyone and everyone, and that caused a lot of confusion among the population.
However, it’s now safe for people to carry as long as it’s made from hemp and contains less than 0.3 percent THC. However, some residents have still been having issues due to regulations not being passed yet, and law enforcement seems to have a negative attitude about the products. We’ll get into that in the next section, but it’s a good idea to wait until regulations pass to start buying the products and carrying them.
How Are The Authorities Viewing It?
Texas has come a long way since 2018. They were arresting people for carrying CBD products that were sold to them in normal retail stores, and it was illegal for anyone without epilepsy to even try the product. As of June of this year, that has changed dramatically. It’s still not a perfect world for CBD users, though.
Despite the products becoming legal for retail distribution, some store owners are still having problems with law enforcement. For example, the owner of a small shop had all of their CBD products confiscated, and she still hasn’t gotten them back. This was due to previous laws being unclear, and despite the products being made legal shortly after her stock was confiscated, her entire stock is stuck in an evidence room.
Prosecutors don’t even want to push the case forward because no laws were broken, but nothing can be done as long as the stock is being held as evidence.
Traveling With CBD Oil
Luckily, Texas airports don’t have the same outdated views on CBD products. They’ve recently fallen in line with other states, and you can bring your CBD products to the airport with you, and you can bring them with you in your carry-on luggage.
However, the CBD products have to meet the requirements set in place by Texas laws. That means that what you bring with you can’t exceed 0.3 percent THC, and you should refrain from bringing large amounts with you. The TSA tends to get a little jumpy when you try to bring 40 bottles of anything with you.
Your products also have to be hemp derivatives. Marijuana products are outlawed in Texas, and you will be arrested.
You also have to make sure the CBD products you bring are approved by the FDA. That’s a TSA rule, and Texas has nothing to do with it.
If you break those rules at an airport, the TSA will be forced to detain you, and they will report you to the police. From there, you can expect hefty fines and possibly a jail sentence.
This is another reason you should wait until all of the regulations are in place. You want to make sure suppliers are forced to properly label their products and put them through rigorous testing before you try to bring them to an airport.
CBD For Humans
CBD oil is used in a variety of ways to treat a variety of ailments. In the medical world, it can take the form of an injection or an oral spray. Those forms of CBD are often used to treat major illnesses such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and cancer.
However, those options aren’t open to very many people. You typically have to be suffering from a serious illness to gain access to CBD injections or the spray version of Sativex.
More commonly, you can find everyday items infused with CBD oil. Lotions, balms, bath bombs, and even soft drinks can be purchased with CBD oil in them.
Those products are used to treat anxiety, depression, and even sexual issues. They’re also known to relieve chronic pains that are caused by arthritis or minor injuries.
A more unique way to use CBD oil is as an acne treatment. CBD oil is an anti-inflammatory substance, and it can reduce the presence of acne if it’s used daily.
To use these products, you just have to use them like you would their normal counterpart. The bath bombs can be chucked into your bathtub, the lotions are just rubbed into your skin, and you just eat or drink the consumables. They’re no different than the products you’ve used everyday for years.
CBD For Pets
Believe it or not, you can use CBD products to treat a lot of issues your pets may be having. It’s mostly commonly used to treat dogs or cats with cancer or chronic pain, but it can also be used to help with anxiety or depression. Pet CBD products are a lot like the type of products humans can use.
Most of the products aimed at pets come in the form of treats or sprays that your pet won’t mind you giving them, and each product should have instructions on how to properly use it.
However, the pet world doesn’t get as much attention as ours, and you want to thoroughly research any CBD pet products you buy. CBD isn’t known to cause any issues with pets, but other ingredients can if the product was made by an irresponsible manufacturer.
The FDA also hasn’t given the issue a lot of attention, and the products are just now being researched heavily. So, it might be worth a short wait if you have any concerns.
CBD has a lot of confusion surrounding it. With hemp and marijuana laws only being in the spotlight for a few years, a lot of the population is under-educated, and that makes it difficult for the average person to go out and try these amazing products.
Some people even consider it a drug because they’ve heard of it being compared to THC-infused products for so long.
It doesn’t have to be like that anymore. We’re dedicated to bringing you solid information about these products, and we want to keep you up to date about your right to own CBD products.
However, we do suggest exercising caution while we’re in such a confusing time. A lot of states are still trying to figure out how to properly regulate CBD products, and states like Texas still have some confusing laws that are subject to change.
